Slap. Bump.

So.. what the hell is this?

A blog about blue collar workers who practice BJJ of course.

The tradesmen of the world who work their asses off in the sweltering heat and blustery winters.

The men who slave by day and roll by night.

I feel there’s a lot of guys out there that can relate.

I don’t know what kind of adventure this blog is going to be.

Could be a one and done dud like that one dude we all know who just couldn’t hack it after a day on the job.

Maybe just a journal of my journey through BJJ as an average guy who works in the trades.

I guess I may as well start with my story.

I’ll keep it short.

I’m just a regular dude from rural PA.

I’m 32.

Been in the bricklaying trade for 11 years now.

And now I’m a foreman balancing work/social life/ and the jits.

Which leads me to my BJJ career…

My BJJ journey started over 3 years ago now and it’s been tremendously shaky to say the least.

To put it simply, I just never prioritized it. I would go a few days a week for 3-4 weeks then take 3 weeks off. Or more.

If something IS a priority nothing will stop you.

If something isn’t a priority in life then anything and everything will stop you from doing it. And that is how I was.

Hard day at work? “Yeah I worked hard today so I can’t go.”

“Tomorrow is gonna be tough, so I don’t want to wear myself out.”

“The dog needs walked” “The house needs cleaned”

You name it.

Pathetic excuses.

Surprise surprise, I saw absolutely no progress. Which made it frustrating.

Guys newer than me would be tapping me out. Which is even more frustrating.

And then you know the old ice breaking question after a roll with someone “so how long have you been training?”

I’d give the “well about a year or so kind of on and off.”

Frankly, it was EMBARRASSING.

I hated that question.

But no more of that. I’m going to lay out my plan. And you can watch me execute and follow my progress.

Now that is partly what is driving me to start this blog.

That and I just feel like there are people out there like me that share some of the same feelings and experiences as me.

So here we go.

Slap. Bump.
